MENTAL HEALTHCARE REPORTS RIDGE DIAGNOSTICS NEWS ON A BLOOD TEST FOR DEPRESSION
Ridge Diagnostics Presents Exciting New Blood Test for Depression (MDDScore)
Carolina Partners and Ridge Diagnostics are currently working together on a ground-breaking blood test for diagnosing Major Depressive Disorder.
About Ridge Diagnostics
Ridge Diagnostics is a diagnostics company focused on developing products to aid in the diagnosis of neuropsychiatric disorders. They apply unique, patent-pending technology using blood-based tests for the diagnosis, treatment selection and monitoring of therapy used in psychiatric disorders. Ridge Diagnostics corporate headquarters is located in San Diego, California. The diagnostic laboratory is located in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina. Visit Ridge Diagnostic's website for a comprehensive look at who they are, what they do, and the incredible opportunity they're offering our patients.
MDDScore™, the First Blood Test
Specifically for Depression
The current method of diagnosis for MDD is based on the patient’s self-reported experience, behavior reported by family or friends, and a mental status exam. All of these methods are subjective and the observations often are similar to other conditions, making diagnosis a challenge. Until now, there has been no simple blood test commercially available that is specifically focused on diagnosing depression. The MDDScore™ is available for healthcare providers when seeking to clarify a diagnosis of
MDD in their patients.
What the MDDScore™ means to you and your healthcare provider
The MDDScore™, Ridge Diagnostics first-in-class test uses a standard blood specimen identical to those collected during routine physical exams. By analyzing blood-based components, a score is generated indicating the likelihood of MDD. “The blood test, for the first time, provides clinicians with objective, biological evidence of MDD.” stated James Smith, M.D. Managing Partner of Carolina Partners Raleigh office. “The MDDScore™ confirmation could positively impact the length of time to reach a definitive diagnosis...” stated Dr. Smith. The addition of an objective blood test result is intended to augment the current methods used for the diagnosis of depression. Patients and physicians alike can now benefit from laboratory evidence of MDD, removing the stigma that surrounds depression as “all in one’s head” and empowering patients to accept and manage their disorder.
Following the testing of your blood sample, your healthcare provider will receive a report
describing your personalized test results. He/she will then evaluate the results along with other clinical information. You and your provider can then decide how to proceed with your management plan.
This test is currently available to Carolina Partners patients. Ask your CPMH provider how to participate.
