What is Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)?
DBT, an abbreviation for Dialectical Behavior Therapy, is a therapeutic technique that helps patients regulate moods and emotions. DBT will often assist those participating in it with distress tolerance, how to better accept reality, and how to be mindful of people and of their environment. This form of therapy is the first of its kind proven to be effective in treating those suffering from borderline personality disorder and other personality disorders. DBT has also proven effective in helping participants with mood disorders, eating disorders, sexual trauma survivors, and patients exhibiting signs of suicidal behavior.
In our Raleigh office, Amparo Penny, LPC is currently conducting a DBT group on Thursdays from 6:15 to 8:15pm. The cost of each session is $50.
