- Martha Lewis
PhD, Doctor of Philosophy in Counseling Psychology,
joined Carolina Partners in 2006. She earned her BA in Psychology from
Brown University, her MSLS from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and her MA and PhD in Counseling Psychology from
Northwestern University.
She has wide-ranging work experience in tutoring, teaching, retail, the US postal service, university and law libraries,
medical and pharmaceutical information service, community mental health, veterans' hospitals and private practice. In Illinois, Dr. Lewis most recently worked with children, adolescents and adults in individual, couples and family therapy in a psychology group practice. She has published in the Journal of Academic Librarianship and in the Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin, and maintains membership in the North Carolina Psychological Association and the Division of Independent Private Practice. Dr. Lewis has volunteered with a sexual assault counseling and advocacy group in Illinois and at a local NC animal shelter.
Currently, Dr. Lewis specializes in adult emotional and behavioral issues, grief and bereavement including companion animal loss, workplace stress, management of pain and adjustment to change, illness and aging. She uses cognitive behavioral, solution-focused, existential and positive psychology strategies in individual therapy at our Counseling Center in Durham
NC.
